CBSE Class 12 Science Chapter List 2026-27: Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology
Class 12 Science is the year everything counts twice: once in the board exam and again in JEE, NEET or CUET. All of those exams are set from the same NCERT books, so knowing the chapter list well, and which chapters lean on Class 11, is the first step in planning the year.
Every chapter below links to its notes, NCERT solutions and practice questions on Kedovo.
Class 12 Physics: all 14 chapters
- Chapter 1: Electric Charges and Fields
- Chapter 2: Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance
- Chapter 3: Current Electricity
- Chapter 4: Moving Charges and Magnetism
- Chapter 5: Magnetism and Matter
- Chapter 6: Electromagnetic Induction
- Chapter 7: Alternating Current
- Chapter 8: Electromagnetic Waves
- Chapter 9: Ray Optics and Optical Instruments
- Chapter 10: Wave Optics
- Chapter 11: Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter
- Chapter 12: Atoms
- Chapter 13: Nuclei
- Chapter 14: Semiconductor Electronics: Materials, Devices and Simple Circuits
Electrostatics and magnetism (chapters 1 to 7) are the heaviest block. Optics and modern physics (9 to 14) are shorter per chapter and good for steady marks.
Class 12 Chemistry: all 10 chapters
- Chapter 1: Solutions
- Chapter 2: Electrochemistry
- Chapter 3: Chemical Kinetics
- Chapter 4: The d- and f-Block Elements
- Chapter 5: Coordination Compounds
- Chapter 6: Haloalkanes and Haloarenes
- Chapter 7: Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers
- Chapter 8: Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids
- Chapter 9: Amines
- Chapter 10: Biomolecules
Chapters 6 to 9 are organic chemistry and build directly on Class 11 hydrocarbons and basic principles. Revise named reactions and conversions together, not chapter by chapter.
Class 12 Maths: all 13 chapters
- Chapter 1: Relations and Functions
- Chapter 2: Inverse Trigonometric Functions
- Chapter 3: Matrices
- Chapter 4: Determinants
- Chapter 5: Continuity and Differentiability
- Chapter 6: Application of Derivatives
- Chapter 7: Integrals
- Chapter 8: Application of Integrals
- Chapter 9: Differential Equations
- Chapter 10: Vector Algebra
- Chapter 11: Three Dimensional Geometry
- Chapter 12: Linear Programming
- Chapter 13: Probability
Calculus (chapters 5 to 9) is the largest unit in the board paper. Integration needs the most practice time, so start it early rather than in the last month.
Class 12 Biology: all 13 chapters
- Chapter 1: Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants
- Chapter 2: Human Reproduction
- Chapter 3: Reproductive Health
- Chapter 4: Principles of Inheritance and Variation
- Chapter 5: Molecular Basis of Inheritance
- Chapter 6: Evolution
- Chapter 7: Human Health and Disease
- Chapter 8: Microbes in Human Welfare
- Chapter 9: Biotechnology: Principles and Processes
- Chapter 10: Biotechnology and its Applications
- Chapter 11: Organisms and Populations
- Chapter 12: Ecosystem
- Chapter 13: Biodiversity and Conservation
Genetics (chapters 4 and 5) is the most question-dense part of the book for both the board exam and NEET. Diagrams in reproduction and biotechnology are asked often; practise drawing them.
How to study these chapters
NCERT line by line, then questions. Especially in Chemistry and Biology, board and entrance questions are often lifted from a single sentence of the textbook. Read the chapter once properly before you start solving.
Pair each Class 12 chapter with the Class 11 one it depends on. Electrostatics leans on vectors, organic chemistry on Class 11 basic principles, calculus on Class 11 limits and derivatives. Ten minutes revising the older chapter saves an hour of confusion.
Use previous year questions as a checklist. After finishing a chapter, do its past board questions. They show what the board actually asks and how much it expects in a 3-mark versus a 5-mark answer.
